Thanks to everyone who came out and made our first show back a success!  We had a great time, some great weather, and no complications from anyone, including the locals.  Hopefully we'll be able to do something like this again.

We'd also like to give a big thank you to new friends Ladymoon.  They played a great set and we were happy to share a stage with them.  We did talk afterwards about doing something together again, so stay tuned...  Check them out at www.ladymoonmusic.com.

Until then, keep groovin'!

"With a mix of rollicking funk bass lines and a heavy dose of blues scholarship, Mellophonic Funk are blurring the lines of what rock and roll instrumentals are supposed to be.  Booty-shaking rhythms and a lead guitar that makes you want to stand up and testify spread a healthy dose of "hell yeah" all over this lo-fi trio.  MF's strength is evident in their simple approach and raw energy, sounding like Sly Stone and Parliament having a jam session with the MC5.  The band prefers to keep their arrangements tight and eschew the often formless jamming of obvious contemporary influences.  Rather than focusing on sounding like another Phish or Grateful Dead rip-off, Mellophonic has chosen to dig deeper into the roots and dole out lessons from the likes of funk professors such as James Brown and Fishbone.  Hook-laden and riff heavy, this is a rock fan's funk band focusing on driving home their punches with a heavy dose of good old fashioned rock n' roll swagger.  What they lack vocally, they make up for musically as they slap a healthy dose of blues rock with a thick layer of raw, funky soul.  Mellophonic Funk may not break any new sonic ground, but they do remind us what it's like to get down to tha funky sounds.  And it feels good..."
